Fever

July 29, 2010

The spirit is so much willing,
But the body’s not cooperating.
I try so hard to feel alive;
I try appearing to have such drive.

I want to always jump up and down
To life my spirits from the ground.
But I feel tired and beaten inside,
The exhaustion’s hard to hide.

My head aches; my nose hurts as well.
In sickness, I pitifully fell.
When will I be healthy again?
When will my sickness ever end?

My body is burning like fire;
My mind is caught in a haywire.
I think I need to get some sleep,
So I can bounce back frm the deep.

I want to write this for tomorrow’s rally in Jingle’s blog. I hope to see the usual people again. I have been absent from the online world, but I am really going online for this. *wink*

Travel Music

July 13, 2010

When I travel, I usually want to listen to music that's not too loud nor too mellow. Slow RNB usually works for me. The three songs above are just the three most important songs in my playlist when I'm traveling. Of course, I have about 20 songs on a normal trval playlist, I don't know about you, but I find that listening to the songs above just puts me in the right mood. What about you? What's your travel playlist?

Awakened by the BPO industry

July 8, 2010

I was only twenty when I first started working as a call center agent. Back then, I di dnot even have any idea what the industry was about. I was just told to apply during the job fair, I gor hired, and before I knew what was happening, I was already making plans for Cebu.

I did not even love Cebu before. I just thought of it as one big oven where my brains could fry. The fact that I had to work in that particular city was really disturbing.

Looking back now, everything has completely changed. Now, I don't even want to leave Cebu anymore. I have grown in the BPO industry. I am not an agent anymore. I have made a career out of the messy world that most people want to get into. The funny thing is that, if somebody had told me before this is how my life was going to be, I would have laughed it all off. Well, look at where I am now….

Two Less Lonely People by Air Supply

Another Award

July 6, 2010

Poet of MayWriting poetry is such a pleasure, especially if you belong to a community of very supportive people who write just as much poetic masterpieces as I do. There has been a number of awards that have been showered upon this blog. However, I still appreciate every single award that I continue to receive. The award I want to post today is for the Celebrate the Poet of May Awards that is still organized by the ever hardworking Jingle.

Once again, this person has made such a big difference in the lives of so many poet bloggers who continue to excel in their craft. Thanks again, Jingle. You’re efforts are never unappreciated and are always valued and cherished.

Shape Up

July 5, 2010

I’ve been pretty busy trying to put all my poems into the new website. The fact that I’ve written so many over the past years make the task at hand seem more tiresome. Over one hundred poems have been written on paper, so I have to encode them just to post them to the site. At least I have about a hundred as well that’s already published virtually, so I won’t have any problems with them anymore. I’m starting out with the poems I wrote from high school through college. When I’m done with all of them, I will post all the new ones, so they get read more. I’m a little more proud of the new ones because I feel like they have more depth than the ones I wrote when I was younger.

It might be a little difficult handling two websites at the same time, which is why the second website will strictly be just for poetry. By the way, I would totally welcome guest posts, if someone feels like volunteering, although the site’s not that trafficked yet to be offering guest postings at the moment. However, that’s a concept I would really love to entertain, now, or in the future. I wonder how it’s going to help the website to have other people write for it as well.

Weekends are always hard because they are never enough. Somehow, no matter how long the weekend is, it always feels short. Its always over before I’m even ready to say goodbye to it. I guess that’s what everybody else feels about weekends. I hope you guys will be as supportive of my second website as you have been with me here. That domain was really paid for, so I am really hoping to keep that place as active as I can. Of course, I am never going to live this place too. This is just where I can rant and rave without being afraid. I’ll see you again tomorrow, folks. Good nighty!!!!

FYI…

July 3, 2010

I am inviting everybody to my new website, Poetry and Ice Cream. I will still keep this WordPress site as a personal blog. However, moving forward, I will post all poetry in my new site. It’s still technically under construction for now. It may take week, even months, to complete the transfer of all the poems I have ever written. I hope you will be patient and bear with me for now.

Let’s all still keep up with each other from here. I have already made a lot of friends on this website, which is why I am keeping this still as my primary blog.I hope to see you on the other website. Let’s have fun there too. *wink*

Ice Drops and Candy Pops

July 1, 2010

Burning heat, scorching sun
Taking out all of the fun
Of a beautiful summer day
As lazy hours pass away.

Sweat, clothes, to the skin, they stick
Shy away from the camera’s click.
My face, covered in oil and dust,
But endure the summer heat, I must.

Yet from afar I could clearly see
Colors that brighten up the day for me
Pink, Orange, Yellow and Blue
And many different flavors too.

Taste, so delicious and delightful
I could eat it in one mouthful
So cold, my mouth and tongue it stings
But oh, the soothing coolness it brings.

Now I eat pink, later, yellow
In my mouth, it melts so
I could eat this everyday
Until the summer heat blows away.

“““`
Can anyone tell me or try to guess what I am referring to in the poem?

Defending the Weakness. Is There Even a Point?

July 1, 2010

farmville

Can you call Facebook a vice? I think it should be considered as one. By definition, a vice is a moral or habitual shortcoming or defect. In that case, Facebook CAN be a vice. Everybody now is so addicted to it that most people do not go through a single day without checking their Facebook accounts at least once.

Plus, there's this thing with the Facebook games that get people so addicted and glued they are more than willing to spend a good quality of their time trimming up their farms, decorating their fake restaurants, and killing their friends' mafia. How weird is that that decades before, our parent would often reprimand us if we spend countless hours playing Super Mario or other Nintendo games. But now, even our grandparents have their own piece of land in Farmville or Farm Town.

Before, we use to play house or play cook with our friends using plastic toys and ceramic cups. Now, our restaurants, hotels, and night clubs can just be managed by a simple click of the mouse. We can leave them unmanaged for as long as 2 or 4 days when in fact, real life business like these can never be neglected by the owner for even just an hour.

I confess that I play those supper-addictive Facebook games too. It takes up at least two hours of my daily internet time. But I also am proud to say that I know how to set boundaries and limitations. I have said goodbye to my farms because they just happen to eat up so much time, especially when you're plowing or planting seeds.

I still hope that someday, I will get to maintain only one game in Facebook and no longer have to slave over those entertaining entrapments that they have deliberately set up for their users.
