Archive for February, 2010

February 28, 2010

I am currently reading “The HIstorian,” a novel by Elizabeth Kostova. The plot involves the legend of Vlad Tepes, the original Dracula. I find the novel both scary and compelling. In fact, I find myself having a hard time putting it down. If only my eyes were always a little more cooperative, I would have read the entire book by now.

I have three other books waiting to be read. Somehow, I think I am going to need a lot fo time for myself, so I can read. Tomorrow is Moday again, and I’ll be at work again. I always love weekends because I have nothing to do. I hope you, my friends, have a wonderful Sunday as well. God bless you all… xoxo

Three Tankas

February 25, 2010

As a poet for today’s rally, I want to feature three Tankas. A Tanka is a Japanese type of poem. It consists of five lines. The first and the third lines have five syllables while the rest of the poem has seven. I have already tried Haiku, so I’m giving this a try as well. I hope you guys enjoy. πŸ™‚

The Grave

The rose smells so sweet.
In her hands, so red, so lush.
But the tears that fall
Portray the sadness she feels,
Leaving the rose on his grave.

The Friend

A joyous flower,
Looking so clean and friendly,
Daisies look so cute.
I wish he’d give me daisies;
His friendship, I so cherish.

My Father

He gave me tulips
Because I was his baby.
He painted flowers
So beautiful to see and
Called them “Tulips for Isha”

You Deserve a Star Today Award

February 23, 2010

My friend, Jingle, has given me another award today. I was offline for two days, and I am welcomed by this prestige. Jingle is indeed the glue that binds all poets/bloggers together. One fine day, someone named Jingle left a comment on my blog, and I’ve met many people after that. Reading her poems and her math puzzles has always been such a treat to one’s mind. Please visit Jingle’s blog by following this link:

The Rules of this award state that I should pass this on to people in my blogroll… πŸ™‚ I am going to do so… I am going to pass this one to my blogging friends, and I hope that they enjoy this too… πŸ™‚

February 22, 2010

I feel bad that I haven’t been able to post anything yesterday. It broke my consistency. Since December 14, 2009, I have always been able to post at least one blog entry everyday. But that was all broken yesterday. Well, at least I have a very valid excuse for doing so. I was offline because I went to Camotes Island on Saturday afternoon. For those who aren’t familiar with Philippines tourist destinations, Camotes is an island off the Main Island of Cebu. It is located in the North, and a little behind civilization and technology. However, the beaches there are perfect. I was able to enjoy the sun for the past tow days. But now, I am back in the city, and I’m back to blogging as well. I’ll be posting more enjoyable blogs tomorrow. πŸ™‚ Sweet dreams and goodnight, friends… *wink*

The Wedding Bells Ring for Jerome and Rowena

February 20, 2010

My cousin is getting married today. In fact, the ceremony could be happening as I’m writing this entry right now. It is unfortunate that I could not attend his wedding to show my support. But I am sure that their family and their friends will give them all the shower of love and happiness that they need on this special day that GOD has created for both of them. I am very happy that he has finally found the one person that he loves and he can spend the rest of his life with. Since I am not there, I am writing this blog as a tribute to him.

As a child he has always been funny. He has amazing Basketball skills, and he can dance too. As if that weren’t enough, he was also gifted with a voice that people could listen to without getting irritated. I am really glad that we became cousins. So, to both of you, Jerome and Rowena, Congratulations and Best Wishes. I am going to include the picture that I sued on the wedding giveaways (which, by the way, I made)… πŸ™‚

The Spotlight Award

February 19, 2010

I received another award today. This time, it’s from none other than Jingle. This award means a lot to me because this was given by the person who has brought together all of the poets who have been blogging since time began. Jingle has single-handedly spearheaded the Thursday Poets Rally. We are now on our 6th Week, and I’m sure many more weeks are to come. This has happened because Jingle patiently brought all of us together. I am very thankful for the award she has given me. This is the Spotlight Award. I am now supposed to give this to three people. I always find it difficult to nominate people and bloggers for awards because I know that every blogger deserves an honor such as this. For this award, I want three of the people I admire the most. I want to give this to Jingle as well, but I know that she knows her worth to all of us. No amount of award we give can equal the things she has done for all of us. So, thank you, Jingle, once again.Β  Please check out her blog by following this link:

πŸ™‚ Here are the people I am nominating:

1. Dr Jekyll

2. Beth

3. Brian Miller
