Listen to Me When Your Heart Breaks
November 19, 2010The Heart of the Matter by India Arie
"It's about forgiveness…" This is absolutely the best phrase in the entire song. Basically, the song is about a woman who got a phone call from her friend telling her that her ex-lover has already found a new love.
My favorite line actually has a universal truth in it. Breakups are always about forgiveness, even when there's no love anymore.
Forgiveness for the hurt we cause each other.
Forgiveness for the wrongs we have done to each other.
Forgiveness for the things we could have done but failed to do.
It's about forgiving the person who has hurt you the most. It's about moving on. It's about not giving up the hope that someday somehow, we will find somebody new, somebody we may not anymore love as deep as we have loved someone before but somebody who deserves all the love we can give from the placed back pieces of our broken hearts.
I'm not really sure if this song could actually help me get over a breakup, but it's worth listening to. The chorus goes "Look at my life; look at my heart.I have seen them fall apart, and now I'm ready to rise again."
They call it a breakup for a reason. When two people decide to go on separate ways, there are always devastating effects on at least one of them. When you go through a break up, it's not just the relationship that get's broken.
Hearts. Dreams. Lives. They all get broken too.
Unfortunately, wallowing in self despair and depression won't help. No matter how much your heart is broken, the world does not stop for your grief. The best we can do is to look into ourselves, find our inner strength, realize that even we are hurting, the future is still on our side. A day will come when our hurts will heal. When we are ready to rise again, we will find that, in love, no one ever wins without losing a few things along the way.
This song may not always make you feel better, but you'll have one good cry when you listen to it. Everybody needs to have a hell of a good cry when they go through a break up. Everybody needs to be able to get it all out of their system.
Breakups are hard. Songs usually work as a catalyst to getting over breakups or just to help you find it in yourself to take a good look at the relationship and realize if the break up will someday be a blessing in disguise or if the relationship is actually still worth fighting for.

I Miss Karaoke Nights
November 16, 2010I don't even need convincing. I love karaoke, especially karaoke nights at home. The three songs above are just the ones that I always sing every time there's a karaoke party. However, that does not mean I don't sing anything else.
What about you? What are the songs that make it to your list? *wink*
I've loved this song since I was young. I'm not a fan of its lyrics, but I know I can sing this song.
Dido by White Flag
This is probably less difficult to sing than the others. Singing this reminds me of a friend I had from the first company I ever worked for.

Poetry Song
May 10, 2010I was watching the old movie Bed of Roses earlier. I heard Sarah MacLachlan’s song called Ice Cream. I just like hearing that song because the lyrics are so sweet. It’s what poetry is all about – being able to express what one feel through words. If music fits, it makes the poem even more special and magical. Anyway, if you haven’t heard the song before, you should Google it out. Here are the words to the song. I wasn’t kidding when I said they were sweet… 🙂
Your love is better than ice cream
Better than anything else that I’ve tried
And your love is better than ice cream
Everyone here know how to fight
And it’s a long way down
It’s a long way down
It’s a long way down to the place
Where we started from
Your love is better than chocolate
Better than anything else that I’ve tried
Oh love is better than chocolate
Everyone here knows how to cry
It’s a long way down
It’s a long way down
It’s a long way down to the place
Where we started from…

Tripping
March 24, 2010I have always loved the music of Imogen Heap, Dido, and Tracy Chapman. However, I just recently realized that I also love Sia, Feist, A Fine Frenzy, Jewel, Amy Winehouse, and Carla Bruni. Yes, I may not understand her songs that well, but I still like them. I like listening to them because they actually act like “downers” for me. When I am in need of a little cooling down or relaxation, I listen to their music. It works like a charm. They calm my nerves. I have never been into the pop music genre. It’s not that I don’t like pop music. I’m really just more into the un-popular music. Ones that may not really be that mainstream, but they match my personality so well. If you have time, you can check them out too. Enjoy! *wink*

A Talented Boy
March 16, 2010My dear friends, I do not know if you have heard of this kid before. His name is Sungha Jung. He plays the guitar like no other person I have ever seen. My mom says Earl Klugh plays the guitar the same way, but this kid is still different. He is from South Korea. I searched him up in Youtube and had such a great time watching his videos. He plays all kinds of music, from “Come Together” by The Beatles to “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” by Frankie Valli.
I am sure that you would all enjoy watching his videos as well. He was born in 1996, and he started playing guitar some time in 2006. He does not play with tabs. Instead, he listens to the music and tries to play on his own, just as how he hears the songs. I would really love supporting children with this much talent. I also find it such a blessing that this kid has chosen to share his talents to everybody. May GOD bless him always.
If I have gotten you even the slightest interested in seeing him play, check out his video in Youtube by click on the link: http://www.youtube.com/jwcfree

On Taylor Swift’s Album of The Year Award
February 3, 2010With the conclusion of the 52nd Grammy Awards, the internet is now full of negative reactions against Taylor Swift winning the Album of the Year Award. It is amazing what people can say on their comments and their blogs.
I am not a huge fan of Taylor Swift. I think that she is just a simple artist who is getting more attention than she deserves. I also think that Lady Gaga or Beoynce deserved that award more than she did. But I also do not agree with all the haters who post very hurtful and destructive comments over the internet.
Let’s face it, she won the award. Why don’t we all move on? Wasn’t it just like yesterday when the airwaves were flooded with requests for her songs? Weren’t we, the general consumers, the exact people who catapulted her to the pedestal that she sits in now? The fact is, the people behind the Grammy Awards saw something in her and thought that she deserved the award. There is no need for us to attack her. She did not let herself win. We did. Whenever we talk about her, good or bad, we make her a little more popular. Whenever we make a comment about her performance, it only means that we watch her. Whenever we say something about her talent, it only means that we follow her career. So now, who was it again who made her into a celebrity? It’s the people.
I know that I am going to piss off a lot of people with today’s blog. But I can’t help it. There’s just too much of Taylor Swift on the internet now. Whenever I read the news online, I always get an article or two about her. I just think it’s so overrated. I don;t understand how people can react so fiercely over something they’re not even a part of.
Here are a few questions I want to ask:
1. Can we even perform half as good as she did when we’re on stage?
2. If we had our own record, would it even sell as much as hers did?
3. If our favorite artists screwed up, would we be fair and attack them just the same?
4. When we were just about Taylor’s age, did we even accomplish as much as she had?
If we think that our favorite artists are all better than her, then no one would actually agree on who should have won that Album of the Year Award. I think we all should just take it down a notch and get on with our lives. The Grammy’s happened three days ago. Isn’t it now time to let it go?
